Luxury 2nd row business experience

Background & Goal

Building on the HMI system developed for the Zeekr 001, the Zeekr 009 introduced an entirely new second-row experience, tailored to luxury business-class seats. With features such as a foldable table, legrest, roof screen, door climate screens, and digi-physical controls in the armrest, the project aimed to adapt the sporty interface of the Zeekr 001 to a refined, luxurious context.
 

The goal was to create a user-centered HMI system that balances luxury and practicality, providing an intuitive, seamless experience for all passengers with for the brand 3 new touchpoints.

My role & Responsibilities

Product Owner, overseeing the development of the HMI system, with a particular focus on second-row features and ensuring a cohesive adaptation of the Zeekr 001 interface.

  • Directed the adaptation of the Zeekr 001 HMI system to suit the Zeekr 009’s luxury-oriented use case.

  • Collaborated with UX and UI designers to develop a user-friendly interface for the roof screen and door climate screens.

  • Addressed challenges of reachability, preferred interaction methods, and optimal display sizes for the roof screen.

  • Designed intuitive digi-physical controls for the armrest, balancing physical and digital functionality.

  • Ensured all features adhered to the vehicle’s luxury positioning while maintaining a consistent brand identity.

Challenges & solutions

  • Adapting a sporty HMI system for a luxury business-class vehicle.
    → Refined the design language and interaction patterns to create a more sophisticated, user-centric experience.
     

  • Designing the brand’s first roof screen system, including questions of reachability, size, and interaction.
    → Conducted iterative testing and simulations to determine the most ergonomic and user-friendly design.
     

  • Developing door climate screens with small displays in challenging placements.
    → Optimized UI elements for clarity and usability, ensuring functionality despite space constraints.
