Portable electric car charger
Background and goals
Every day, a large number of Chinese residents die as a result of smog polluting the air. This creates an unsustainable situation where China is forced to make a change. Therefore the state has created great incentives to increase the proportion of electric cars in cities to reduce emissions.

As the number of electric cars increases, higher demands are also placed on the availability to charge them. Today, the number of charging stations for electric vehicles is undersized, which affects sales of electric vehicles. Available space and bureaucracy place additional high demands on a future solution for charging electric cars.

The goal of the project was to create a mobile, modular charging station adapted to Chinese cities.
My role
The project group consisted of 4 people who all participated in all aspects, everything from research of culture and climate in China to sketching ideas, testing and finally visualizing a detailed concept.
Process
Interviews, surveys and observations were conducted on both Swedish and Chinese citizens for the project group to learn about China's culture and electric vehicles. An extensive literature study with scientific journals and popular culture provided valuable insights regarding, for example, China's electricity network, Chinese life patterns and how cars are used. Everything was compiled and analyzed in a KJ Analysis.

Existing solutions to the problem were implemented and analyzed. In addition, research was done regarding design trends in China to create a suitable inspiration board. A list of needs and requirements was created to clarify the framework for a future solution.
